In response to upcoming proposals to release gene drive organisms in Hawaii, in September of 2016 Hawai’i SEED organized an educational session  “Gene Drives: Who Decides for Hawai’i” the week of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress. Here is the livestream of the event. The panelists were Hokulei Lindsey, Native Hawaiian Advocate; Walter Ritte, Hawai’i SEED board member and Hawaiian Rights advocate; and Dana Perls, Senior Campaigner, Friends of the Earth and Jim Thomas, Program Director of the ETC Group.
